Its handle protects the user from the heat, but it is not removable. The pitcher is also slightly tapered for easy pouring. The pitcher is made of plastic, which might be a downside for some users. However, clean up is simple and can be done by wiping excess wax with a paper towel. Some users have reported that they have not had any problems with wax residue being passed on to the next batch of candles. The pitcher can be used on a hot plate for melting wax, and the recommended temperature is not to exceed 185F. Pouring the wax at 130F will make it look nice and prevent it from caving at the top. Some users have reported that they can make small batches of lotion bars in the pitcher too. For those with a high-sided pan, it's best to put something flat and metallic in the bottom of the pot where the pitcher can rest to prevent spillage. The handle can withstand low to medium heat, but it can be removed for safety reasons before putting the pitcher in an oven. Overall, the CandleScience Small Candle Making Pitcher is a good purchase for those who love making candles but may not have the need for large batches.
