  • Geologic Structures In Action: Fold & Fault Model Set is designed to simulate geologic changes in rock strata caused by external forces. Each set includes 10 packages, with each package containing a fold model and a fault model.
  • Fold Model: The fold model represents flat layers of sedimentary rock, allowing students to simulate folding by applying pressure to both ends of the fold model If the model bends upward to form an arch, it demonstrates an anticline. If the layers bend downward, it forms a syncline.
  • Fault Model: The fault model consists of three sections representing the Earth's crust that has been cracked or fractured. Students can use this model to demonstrate the three types of faults: normal, reverse, and strike-slip.
  • Safe: The models are constructed from multi-colored, soft, and durable ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. EVA foam is safe for children.
  • The activity: "Earthquakes" is included with the model set and intended for studies involving fold and fault modeling. The activity is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standard (NGSS) MS-ESS2-2, which focuses on constructing explanations based on evidence for how geoscience processes have changed Earth’s surface over varying time and spatial scales.
