- NEWS!!! 'Live Japan/Alone Together' by Phil Sheeran and Leon Bisquera voted best live album of 2008! - by 'Sound of the Breeze' Nozomi Tsutsui's radio show in Japan. Recorded from a live concert at Club IKSPIARI, Tokyo - Japan on May 11, 2006 with Phil Sheeran and pianist Leon Bisquera (Anita Baker, Boney James, Gary Wright, Chaka Khan, Gabor Szabo) This is a great CD for putting on around the house or entertaining with friends and a glass of wine. Leon and Phil have a real chemistry when they perform together and it was certainly captured at this magical concert in Japan. ' We were just two jazz musicians on stage flying by the seat of our pants... going for it, without a safety net, there were lots of surprises and a few near misses that made things really exciting' says Phil about the concert. Featuring a brand new Sheeran original Catalina Americana and many songs from Phil's other CDs. 'Leon and I included songs from guitarists and pianists that were influential to our musical development.' Listen to our versions of these contemporary classics - Earl Klugh -Dr. Macumba, Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays - James, Herbie Hancock - Cantaloupe Island and the fiery Spain by Chick Corea Musicians: Phil Sheeran - guitars Leon Bisquera - Piano Running Time: 79:57 BIO: Phil Sheeran has established himself as a guitarist and composer with the national international release of his eight CD's Breaking Through, Standing on Fishes, It's A Good Thing, Orchid, The Marc Anthony Latin Guitar Tribute, plus two holiday albums, I'll Be Home For Christmas and his new holiday release; The First Noel. Also new from Sheeran this year is LIVE JAPAN, Alone Together - a new live duo CD featuring Phil in concert with pianist Leon Bisquera. Phil's albums have hit #17 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz and charted top 5 in the nation for air-play on contemporary jazz and New Adult Contemporary stations. Phil has performed on the same bill as the Rippingtons, David Benoit, Richard Elliott, Michael Tomlinson, Danny O'Keef and Tom Grant and has recorded with such artists as Eric Marienthal, Steve Kujula, Luis Conte, Gregg Karukas, Andy Narell, Eric Tagg, Brandon Fields, Harvey Mason, and Will Kennedy just to name a few. Phil's educational background is in jazz, classical and Brazilian music. Graduated from the prestigious Cornish Institute of the Arts with a BFA in music, Jazz composition and performance where he studied with Bassist- Gary Peacock, Pianist- Art Lande and guitarist/composer- Ralph Towner.
