Mathematics Editorial Review
The book "Combinators: A Centennial View" is a beautifully printed and well-organized book. It has different parts, all connected by the common theme of Combinators. The main part of the book contains an analysis of all possible S and SK combinator words up to the length of 16 with interesting observations about time/space complexity, execution order, halting, and opportunities for performance optimization. The book also has historical information about the discovery of combinators and a biography of Moses Schonfinkel. The book has a lot of illustrations, high printing quality, and colors. This book is a good example of how a modern book about programming or math should look. Although the author mentions Mathematica and Wolfram language quite often, which some readers may find annoying, it adds flavor to why the subject of the book is important to the author. In conclusion, this book is a good read, although it may be challenging for those who are unfamiliar with combinators.
