Drama Editorial Review
Il Postino is a powerful film that brings to life the poetry of Pablo Neruda. The film tells the story of an exiled Cuban poet who forms a friendship with his postman on a small Italian island. The lead actor, Massimo Troisi, who had a congenital heart defect, postponed a heart transplant to complete the filming. He passed away a day after completing the film and never saw the completed version. The film gives a glimpse into post-WWII politics. The DVD received mixed reviews, with one person reporting that neither disc worked in their Blu-ray player. However, others expressed their love for the movie and found it to be beautifully crafted. Overall, the film is a touching and gentle pleasure that makes an emotional impact on its viewers.
