ust Compasses 1156922 Editorial Review
The UST Folding Map Compass is an affordable and useful product for basic compass training. It has an inclinometer, which can be used to estimate the height of objects, however, using it requires some trigonometry. The compass is declination adjustable, and users should look closely for the screw next to the northeast bezel line. The compass is not as durable or accurate as higher-end models and is recommended for use in temperate climates with good maps. It weighs around 2.1 ounces. The description claims it is black, but some have received baby blue ones. There are issues with low-quality bindings and plastic, causing the compass to fall apart. The needle is not the strongest. Some units are off by 6-8 degrees, according to a few reviewers, and the declination set screw is questionable. The compass is suitable for beginners to learn but may not be satisfactory for field use.
