The Peavey Shingle Froe with 15” Blade and 18” Handle is a machine made, solid piece of heavy-duty steel. The blade is .25 inches thick and can work well on cedar but has a steep grind that is not the most conducive for splitting. It comes without a sheath, but customers have made their own. The handle is graduated in size, so that the blade jam-fits in place, and is attached by a screw to prevent it from slipping out. The Peavey Shingle Froe is made by Woodcraft and is an excellent American-made tool. The handle, however, is prone to breakage, which occurred after 15 minutes of use in one instance.
